A Study on the Difficulties of Chinese ESL Postgraduates in Academic Writing

This paper identifies and discusses three main factors in Chinese ESL graduate students'academi c writing - plagiarism,the issue of cross culture and language proficiency, which could lead them to a disadvantage compared with native speakers of English.It aims to make ESL graduate student writers critically aware of how they have been culturally constructed in their practice of academic writing.Some strategies are presented to overcome these difficulties, based on the author's teaching experience in academic writing.
